Casa Metica is a collective and a local, community-based housing project whose objective is to create a pattern for self-managed accommodation.

THE IDEA

Casa Meteca is a collective and community-based housing project.

Its aim is to give life to a self-managed place of accommodation, which seeks to respect the desires and needs of guests by providing them with a place of rest, information and personal development. Casa Meteca aims to be a space for communal activities, promoted by organizing workshops and events involving local people and travelers.

In the spirit of a hostel, it will accommodate :

✔ 30 paying travellers, interested in affordable accommodation, situated in a friendly place that is rooted in neighbourhood life ;

✔ 10 non-paying travellers, in particular foreigners having difficulty in finding accommodation due to administrative reasons ;

✔ part of the hostel management team – 10 people – made up of people wishing to stay in Marseille

A HOSTEL CONNECTED TO ITS CITY

At Casa Meteca, travelers will be able to find information and contacts that will allow them to discover the city and identify the various organisations, public and private, that could assist them with administrative procedure.

A PLACE TO MEET AND SHARE

Besides the services traditionally present in hostels, Casa Meteca offers workshops open to both travelers and locals, so as to build relationships with the rest of the city and promote the sharing of ideas and skills amongst the population inclusively.

Casa Metaca offers an alternative response to the widespread discourse opposing residents and migrants, citizens and non-citizens, rights holders and irregulars, beneficiaries and welcoming committees.

By providing guests with a place to meet and relax, as well as the first tools for empowerment, Casa Meteca aims to help people move away from charitable and humanitarian assistance, in order to allow each person to determine their own choice and direction.
